Jargon Buster

Hardware:
Hardware relates to the computer itself, it also relates to items (peripherals) you can attach to the computer.

Software: 
Also known as programs, this is what you use to perform various tasks on the computer.

MS-DOS:
Stands for Microsoft Disc Operating System - An operating system which was used before Windows, MS-DOS required the user to type commands into the computer rather than use a mouse.

Icon:
Small picture that represents a file or program on your computer, usually a description is also provided with the icon.

Peripherals:
Any item that is attached to your computer such as a printer, mouse or scanner.
